In 2014, Dave “the Brown Buttabean” Letele created a grassroots movement focused on health and wellbeing for his people. Starting in local parks and schools, BBM brought fitness to the people, through walking, simple body weight exercises, and positive group encouragement. Nobody was left behind. Since then, BBM has helped thousands of people to understand the physical and mental health benefits of exercise, good nutrition, and what being around good people can do. BBM operates two free gyms, a foodshare, and a community kitchen in Tāmaki Makaurau Auckland; a gym and social supermarket in Tokoroa; along with outreach to hundreds of organisations across Aotearoa New Zealand.
